"Giving dealers control of the offer, not an algorithm"
The Problem
Dealers relied on tools like KBB and Blackbook for trade-in values, but these algorithms played it safe by sending low offers that didn't account for the actual car's condition or the dealer's specific needs. Customers walked away from deals. And they hated having to bring their car in for an inspection just to get a number.
The Insight
Progressive dealers told us they wanted control of the offer. They knew their inventory, their market, their margins. They didn't need an algorithm making conservative guesses for them. Customers wanted convenience. We saw the gap.
The Approach
We built Express Trade as a fully online trade tool. Customers upload photos, enter vehicle details, and submit from home. Dealers review the real information and make their own offer, no middleman algorithm. When some dealers wanted speed over control, we made the integration modular so any algorithm-based tool could plug in for instant estimates, giving customers a ballpark while still generating leads.
The Outcome
Express Trade and Express Response were adopted by 80% of Roadster's customer base, generating $9.4M in ARR. Sales accelerated significantly during and after the 2020 pandemic as dealers shifted to digital-first workflows. The modular approach turned initial dealer resistance into a competitive advantage.
